Vault Delver, Part 4: HQ Assets, Military Crate

Oh boy, it sure has been long since I actually did any 3D modeling with the complete pipeline. Well Just Maya LT and Quixel Mixer. A lot of errors where made and the overall process had a few faults and snags.

I wanted to make something easy and kind of plain, but also somewhat useful. So some kind of storage was judged to be of use. And with Vault Delver taking place in an underground research bunker with military guards, an military type of crate was decided.

I am not used to Extreme highpoly modelling so… yeah, it was not a complete clusterfuck. But lessens where most defiantly learnt.

High poly model of the box lid

Sigh, I kind of screwed up the process from the beginning, the normal step is to make an unusable high poly model and afterwards bake normals and other maps down to the usable high-, med-, low-poly model that will be used in the game. I made just the usable highpoly model and when it came to baking maps for use in Mixer I was kind of in a loss.

Complete highpoly model

I most defiantly need to remake it later since there are a lot of small errors inside of this thing that needs to be fixed. But I am a bit too tired of this crate and will return to it later after I am done with a few more objects and when I am more used to using Mixer

So far, the end result is not too bad and I learned a lot from making it. We shall see how much I have improved after a few more weeks.
